A little something different this time!
At first glance, this page might look like I've gone more than a little crazier than I usually am... but I have an issue where I want to share some pictures that I have - and I don't feel like I have enough of these pictures to make it worth the time of creating a seperate page for each place, so, for now, I'm going to lump them together on this page since the two places are close enough together to be able to walk from one to the other.
Of course, this means that there will be two maps below, but pretty much everything else will be the same as what you are used to seeing from me.

Ingoldmells
Two different places invoke different emotions in me
As a child, we often spent a week or two each year in Skegness, since it could be argued that there was more for children to do there back in the day. As I entered adolescence, Ingoldmells became our annual destination. With that said, I'm still hugely attracted to Skegness for a stay over a few days at a time, though Ingoldmells is somewhere that I can relax without the memories of my teenage years haunting me from afar.
Ingoldmells by night
Of the hundreds, if not, thousands of pictures that I've taken around Ingoldmells over the years, this remains one of my favourite shots of all time... even though I was halfway to frozen at the time of shooting it.
What really took this shot out of the world for me isn't just the fact that I was able to get the lights to the left of the picture but the fact that the sky in the background mathes the lights on the arcade to the right just so.

it's not all fun and games!
Sadly, we ended up stuck in for repairs on one occasion... and given the absence of a proper jack for the job, it seems that the tool chest makes an excellent stand in.
My husband somehow managed to pick up a thumb tack in his tyre while we were out the day before, so I had to head out and get a puncture repair kit so that we could fix the tyre and head out for a late lunch.
Apparently, what should have been a pretty straight forward fix turned out to be not so straight forward. Although we knew what we were doing and what should happen, it seemed that the rimr of the tyre didn't want to split down so that we could get the inner tube out at any price - so the job was to take longer than necessary to complete.

Can't forget my favourite sight!
For me, nothing screams "Welcome to Ingoldmells" louder than seeing the red and yellow tracks of the roller coaster out on the horizon - given that the land is mostly flat, you can see it from miles away... and those last few miles are always the longest as you start thinking about getting out of the car and stretching your back that suddenly aches like you haven't had three breaks to stretch it in already!
And the "Welcome to skegness"
For me, I'm not in Skegness until I've seen the clock tower... fortunately, it's pretty hard to miss given the size of it combined with the fact that it's in a pretty central place being right in the middle of the main road in and out of town.
The clock tower itself is a Grade two listed building... and, though you can't see it from this angle, it does contain an inscription on one of the sides that I have yet to acquire the enthusiasm of risking my life to get close enough to the tower in order to be able to obtain a decent picture of the inscription.

Nature comes to your doorstep!
These ducks were so tame that they would walk across the campsite in search of food. It was often a sight of much amusement to stand and watch them weaving their way around the caravans.
The jolly fisherman looks much better these days
The gardens here in Skegness were remodelled a few years ago. I have to admit that I certainly wasn't a huge fan of the improvements at first... and for the most part, it wasn't a simple case of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" as can often be the case with me. I actually agreed with the work done for the most part - but I certainly wasn't a fan of The Jolly Fisherman on top of the fountain there.
When he was initially placed, he was golden in colour and seemed to clash terribly with the surroundings - and I was forced to witness this eyesore for at least 2 years before he started to get the green coating that he has today. Fortunately, he looks much better now than he ever has before!
