I like working with Animals, too!
So, this page is called "Ey up, mi duck". It seemed that this piece of regional dialect lent itself quite well to a name for my page on animals - especially since I have a few pictures of ducks to share.
The term "Ey up, mi duck" in itself is a regional way of saying "Hello, my duck" and is used between Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire - with both counties claiming to have coined the saying... anyway, that's not a debate I'm going to spark up here on my website. Instead, I'm going to share with you some of my animal photography.
Having gotten into animal photography a number of years ago (before cameras went digital), I've found that, sadly, I've lost a lot of my earlier animal photos... but I still have quite a few that I've taken in recent years.

One animal you don't want in your back yard!
Traveling through the woods, killing time one day in 2016, I came across this mole which I couldn't resist shooting because of the cheekiness of it. Further exploration of the area has revealed that it is one of a set of such carvings in the woods.
Unfortunately, at this point in time, I have no idea of the total number of the other carvings since I literally stumbled across this one entirely by chance. There is only one other carving that I've had the chance to locate - although I didn't get the chance to shoot it since it was half buried in plants and the location wasn't quiet enough for me to grab it at the time when I located it. I haven't had a chance to return and shoot it since then.
Though I suspect that the wood that the mole is made out of might be locally sourced, I know that the tree definitely was not located there before the carving was made, so it is something that was made elsewhere and then bought in and placed at that location for some reason.
At the time I shot the image, I noticed that a new cafe was being set up close by this mole, and I felt happy that more people will get a chance to stumble across him in much the same way as I did... maybe he'll get the chance to brighten someone else's day as he did mine.
