My day out - wragby, lincolnshire, uk
It is a little unfair of me to refer to Wragby as a "Day Out", since, technically, it was merely a toilet stop as we were passing through on our way somewhere else... but I had to call it something!
When Wragby was first mentioned as a rest stop, I have to admit that I wasn't exactly enthusiastic about the idea... but, I was cramping from being in the confines of the car and my back really needed to be stretched, so I reluctantly agreed just to get out of the car already!
On the approach, I didn't see anything at all to pique my interest... just a stretch of road, a sign proclaiming that we had 10 miles remaining until we reached our destination and a building by the side of the road. It wasn't until we turned the corner that I was practically climbing out of the car as we were driven down the road. I just had to shoot this place.
Fortunately, there wasn't too much there, so I didn't delay our onward journey by all that long - but, as you will see, what was there was beautiful.

My first look at Wragby
The first thing that I saw was the (now former) Post Office. Fortunately, my visit was a few of months before the closure of the Post Office was announced and I was able to get a picture of how the building was before the closure occurred.
We passed through again after the Post Office had closed... and the building didn't look the same without it's stock in the windows. Luckily for the residents, the Post Office was re-situated into another building across the road.
As far as the building goes, in it's days before it became a Post Office, it was formerly two shops... though I haven't been able to obtain any information as to what these shops would have been to date.

There's always something new to spot!
One thing that I often find with Wragby is that, no matter how many times you pass through, there's always something new to discover. Just looking at this picture right now, I noticed the light between the chip shop and the pet grooming shop for the first time.
It looks very old fashioned
With the exception of the bin, the bollards and the cars, you could easily think that you'd slipped into a bygone era... I know that I did when I saw the cafe for the first time.
Sometimes, looking up isn't always a bad thing, either...
While I initially took this picture for the plaque in the centre, there are lots of other aspects to it that are just as nice as the plaque itself is... like the random patterning within the brick work, the chimney pot and the slit in the wall. For some reason, the slit strikes me as the most curious part of it because it strikes me as something that you'd usually expect to see in a building much older than this one.
